The Lake

Stepping in, I’m surrounded by the vast openness

The only things ahead are empty grey skies and waves of grey water

Behind me is the crashing of waves on the rocky shore

The chilly wind hums loudly by my ear

My exposed skin is cold, but the rest is enveloped in a light, chilly blanket

I feel encompassed by everything, but alone with nothing

As I inhale, the cool sharpness of the fresh water fills my lungs

I can almost taste misty water with every breath

I've never felt more surrounded, but alone.

Dolphins are blue

I see you

In the ocean

Tickling urchins

Swimming Whales

With gaseous trails

A floundering fish

He’ll grant you a wish

To get a deepdish

Max likes DiGiorno Pizza

The sharkeys are gonna kiss ya

As they swim away

poetry

Why is there a shoe on the light?

The shoe was not white

It was chucked across the room

On CableÅ› head it went boom

Caleb needs a haircut

He said What?

At Cable that shoe Max yote

CalebÅ› head it smote

I think heÅ› feeling better

He always wears a sweater

HeÅ› always half-asleep

But he doesn-t weep

Wall is delicious

And very nutritious

Rollercoaster

The buildup is enormous and nerve racking

Excited for what’s about to come

Then it all falls

The sky goes up and I go down

Trying to breathe as the world goes rushing by

Falling through a bottomless abyss of cold air

Turns whipping all around

Then it stops

The adrenaline, the excitement

Is over

childhood

She giggled and ran across the yard.

She looked at me and smiled, then happily waved.

She turned and walked into the woods, not looking back once.

She was so clueless, so naive.

But so was I, to let her get lost like that.

I lost Her that day, in the woods.

But on cool summer days, when the rain just stopped, I can see Her.

She is still giggling and running in Her own little world.

I might have lost Her, but at least I can still see Her.

“Crunch’’

It's been sitting there for years.

Dark blue and scratched from use over the decade.

My mom used it for her tax papers.

I used it for my crafts.

It's always been on that table in the dining room.

“crunch” it would go.

The little pieces of metal would get all over the floor.

One time it got my finger.

But it's always been there, that beat up old thing from 1997.

I will always cherish it,

That's been sitting there for years.

Nowhere

When I go nowhere,

I like to run,

Going somewhere,

But not having fun,

Even in winter,

When I go gliding,

I feel the heat splinter,

But I keep on a’riding

Stapler

Small, orange, staply,

Has a sharp bite that

Intricately binds two or more sheets of paper together,

And sometimes is used in medical practice.

Impossible to remove without stabbing

Fingertips, unless a special tool is used, and thus,

The stapler is the highest manifestation of love.

Alej

Oh Alej, oh Alejito,

You just got bit by a mosquito,

Oh Alej, oh Alejandro,

You always growl like a car bro,

Oh Alej, oh Alejanador,

What are you swinging that metal pipe for,

Oh Alej, oh Alejito,

I wonder if you would like a cheeto.
